Desert Planet #2 (Mars)

Through a blend of artistic interpretation and scientific imagery, the series “Desert Planet” invites viewers to imagine the narratives etched into the terrains of two worlds. By juxtaposing the alien beauty of Mars with the stark desolation of Earth's deserts, it offers a meditation on time, geology, and the tenuous thread of life that connects distant planets. Images of Mars have been extracted from scans of the Martian landscape made by Mars Global Surveyor and Curiosity Rover and then reimagined by Neil Folberg. The boundaries between Earthly deserts and Martian panoramas blur, calling us to marvel at the shared forces that sculpt these worlds.
